The project focuses on technical and operational support to the Competition Commission in order to enhance its capacity to implement competition policy in Serbia. A significant part of the activities is also directed at judges of the Administrative Court, attorneys, officers of regulatory bodies and the Public Procurement Administration, and the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, as well as other market participants. The Competition Law of 2009, which came into force in November 2010, gives the Commission (initially the Competition Commission established by the 2005 Act) significant powers in terms of the conduct of proceedings, the type of decisions and the imposition of penalties. In the meantime, some challenges have emerged that need to be addressed with the support of the project team.
